Tourist spots in Trivandrum

This is one of the most beautiful places of Kerala. Being located on the southern coast of the country, this city is referred as “Evergreen city” by MK Gandhi. Apart from being an IT hub, there are a number of places that are considered as a hot spot for both international as well as domestic users.

Trivandrum has its own international airport with all the major flights coming here from different parts of the world. Trivandrum is well connected by the Railways. The station is the headquarters of the Southern Railways.

Some of the best places to visit and explore in Trivandrum are:

  1. Aruvikkara Dam: This dam is built on the banks of river Karamana. This can be a picnic spot set in some of the beautiful landscapes and sceneries. This dam is situated near to Durga Temple which is visited by many tourists.
  2. Museum Complex: This complex consists of a museum, Zoological Park and an Art Gallery. The Napier Museum is known for its natural cooling system and has some of rarest collections and carvings that belonged to the ancient times. The Zoological Park is one of the first botanical gardens of the country.
  3. Kanakakunnu Palace: This palace was built during the late 19th century by the Travancore King. Originally it was used as a guest house by the royal family but now it is owned by the State Government. Of late the palace is used for cultural programmes and other meets.
